The Walters Solar Cooker is a unique approach to a box cooker design. Beside direct gain, the cooker incorporates a convective loop of heated oil, which adds conductive heating directly below the cookware. There is a rear access door for easy loading of food to be cooked.

  • September 2022: The Walters Solar Cooker only made it into limited production. Arlus Walters was working on getting his design patented in 2010. He is now retired as of 2022, but was still quite happy to explain to Luther Krueger about its workings. Unfortunately, due to its relative complexity, weight, and somewhat modest maximum cooking temperature, it never found its market.
