Veljibhai Desai is an outspoken advocate of decentralized power generation, and is director of TinyTech Plants in Rajkot,Gujarat, India. His background is in law and mechanical engineering. In the early eighties he founded TinyTech Plants, with a plan to promote micro enterprises in various industrial fields. Besides manufacturing small conventional fuel energy systems, they market a variety of solar cookers, as well as a solar thermal power plant, wind turbines, and wind mills. Through these efforts, they have seen their projects stimulate rural development, with the goal of creating local self-reliance and eradicating poverty.
