Acrylic paint Edit

Here is the answer I got from Kevin at Solar Cookers International: As you know, we recommend nontoxic latex or blackboard paints. Do you know if the person has a good reason for wanting to use acrylic over other paints? Our literature states that if oil-based paint is used, the pots should "bake" in the sun for several days to get rid of any odor. Acrylics are water-based I believe, so that step probably isn't needed. I would think most acrylics would be ok, but some of them contain toxic heavy metals as pigments (cadmium, cobalt, lead) and I would definitely avoid those. I think the labels clearly state if they contain those toxins. I would remind the person to only paint the outside of the vessels.
