In the section titled 'Cookers which concentrate light from above' the entries for Pannel Cookers and Funnel Cookers both link to this page: http://solarcooking.wikia.com/wiki/Concentrators_from_above – which does not include any information about them. Are there pages for these cooker types? if so, where? Also, should they really be in the 'Cookers which concentrate light from above' section anyway? Cheers, Jonathan

No need to reupload images
If you see an image on one of our wiki pages, you don't have to reupload it to use it on another page. Just go to the page where you see the image and click the Edit tab. Copy the image tag from there and paste it onto the other page where you want to use it. This should speed things up! Tom Sponheim 05:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Can you add this new Tripod style of hybrid parabolic cooker to the Compendium?
This grill utilizes a recycled parabolic antenna. It's very easy to build, stable in high winds, powerful and fast, and versatile. It can use solar or other heat sources for cooking, using pots and pans. It bakes, fries, and even smokes food quickly with just the sun. Please check it out.
Added evaluation criteria
Today I added a suggested list of evaluation criteria to the main page.
To extend this, it would be helpful for someone to define typical numbers for cooking power and maximum temperature that are optimum for small solar cookers.

A new fresnel parabolic solar cooker design
I wonder if your fresnel parabolic cookers page could have a review of my design. Truly, what do you think of it? I have created a 3D model of it and I would like to manufacture it using mirror material laminated on blown paper foam with a minimum amount of resin.

- Hi, Webb. Great work you've done on this cooker. There is a need for such designs to allow people to cook Flatbread. You'll see similar cookers here: Helios Array and Devos Solar Cooker. Your's though seems simpler and your method of focusing the mirrors will be useful for many people. Would you allow one of our volunteers to copy the info from your page onto this Wiki? If this is okay, we'll need to ask you to upload your videos to YouTube to allow us to embed them in the wiki. Probably the only one needed is the third one showing the mirror alignment procedure.

paraboloid with coincident focus and centre of gravity
If the centre of gravity of a paraboloidal reflector coincides with its focal point, only a small torque is needed to rotate it to follow the sun in the sky, turning around an axis that passes through the focus and centre of gravity. The focus does not move as the reflector rotates, so the collector of sunlight can be fixed. If the reflector is axially symmetrical and made of material of uniform thickness, it turns out that the depth of the reflector, measured along its axis from the vertex to the plane of the rim, must be 1.8478 times its focal length. The radius of the rim is 2.7187 times the focal length. (This number is very close to the value of "e", the base of natural logarithms. This is just a chance coincidence, but it can be a useful mnemonic.) The angular radius of the rim, seen from the focus, is 72.68 degrees.
