February 2013, US Solar Cooking Survey: I am searching for survey participants. The survey is 25 questions, taking about 15 minutes. It is set-up to align with RECS, a well-regarded triennial national survey. I have been an active solar cook and LEEDap in the Sacramento, California area for 10 years. Purpose is to fill the hole in the national consciousness as to solar cooking’s potential for saving energy. I could really use your help. Natalia Blackburn has more than 20 years of experience as a registered mechanical engineer in California and Nevada, USA. During that time she has designed everything (it seems) from residences to universities, project managing the heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning; plumbing; fire protection; and electrical system designs.
Natalia and her family live in an earth sheltered home which they built in the mid 1980s. They have a PG&E bill of $30 per month. She has been actively interested in energy efficiency and sustainability for many years and has been a volunteer for Solar Cookers International for about 10 years. She solar cooks in the summer on her CooKit and finds that it is less hassle than an indoor stove and that it "makes the best rice we have ever eaten."
