  • Wednesday, February 27, 2013: (Sacramento) "Training the Trainers" is the theme for this course provided by Solar Cookers International. The workshop is designed for experienced solar cooks and trainers to exchange best practices, and teach new volunteers the art of teaching solar cooking well. For all new and continuing solar cooker trainers. It will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at SFBFS, 3333 Third Ave, Sacramento.   • Saturday, March 2, 2013: (Fresno) Central Valley Solar Cookers will be represented with a solar cooking information booth at the Chinese New Years Parade in downtown Fresno.
  • Saturday, March 16, 2013: (Clovis) Central Valley Solar Cookers will be presenting a solar cooker building and solar cooking workshop at Dry Creek Park from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. For more information contact Carl Peters.
  • June 22, 2013: (Fresno) Central Valley Solar Cookers will be holding a solar cooking festival at The Discovery Center in Fresno. This fun and educational festival will be Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. It will feature solar cooking demonstrations, local bands, solar science demonstratins, local art and crafts for sale and all things solar.   • April 13-14, 2013: (New Haven) The Global Health & Innovation Conference 2013 is scheduled to take place next spring at Yale University. The conference is the world's largest global health conference and social entrepreneurship gathering. This must-attend, thought-leading conference annually convenes 2,200 leaders, changemakers, students, and professionals from all fields of global health, international development, and social entrepreneurship. Those wishing to present at the conference, may submit an abstract by August 31 for consideration. More information...


  • July 26-28, 2013: (John Day) This year's SolWest Fair at the Grant County Fairgrounds hopes to include solar cooking demonstrations, with classes for all ages, solar food vendors and a solar potluck. Since 1999, SolWest has been a back-to-our-roots education-oriented event with the aim of helping small businesses and sustainability-oriented attendees, but the fair is endangered by lack of funding. Consider offering what aid you can to continue the SolWest Fair tradition. More information...
