Sam Brown and Tara Miller
Tara Miller and her husband, Sam Brown, first introduced solar cookers (and solar electric) to Taquile Island on Lake Titicaca Peru in 1996. Lake Titicaca is located at the northern end of the Altiplano basin, high in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. They have continued to return to visit every couple years, becoming godparents and developing a close and lasting relationship with the local community.
When they visit, they will be keeping a travel web log to chronicle their adventures and solar cooking experiences. Some introductory postings are at their Amigos de Taquile travel blog Those interested, can sign up to follow the blog and be alerted to new postings.

- April, 2013 Baked banana cake in the ULOG cooker for our going away party.
- April, 2013: In addition to Solar Cookers, we support healthy design changes on the biofuel stoves. - February 26, 2012: Today (Sunday) we made a Solar Cooker presentation and demonstration to a gathering of at least 200 public officials from the district of Ilave- El Collao in the city of ILAVE, about an hour bus ride around Lake Titicaca from Puno, Peru. We cooked yams in two cookers, in spite of partly cloudy conditions. We were honored by the rapt attention, good questions and serious interest. We will return on Tuesday to make a similar presentation to a smaller gathering of a women's organization that promotes breast feeding and family health. Cross cultural sharing of experience.
