Revision as of 21:03, 18 March 2008

The UN refugee agency, Stichting Vluchteling (Netherlands Refugee Foundation) and the Vajra Foundation have teamed up to distribute solar cookers in the Nepalese camps. The project in Nepal is financed by the Dutch Postcode Lottery, which has been supporting UNHCR's work worldwide since 2002.

Stichting Vluchteling worked with the Vajra Foundation to develop the cookers, which are now being largely produced in Nepal. UNHCR and people involved in the project hope it can be extended to refugee camps in other countries.
