Sonnenenergie für Westafrika (SEWA) (Solar Energy for Western Africa) is a German non-profit association which is using solar technology to improve the living conditions in Western Africa. In cooperation with our partners in Germany and Burkina Faso we're developing and enhancing solar devices, educating people and providing schools and health centers with electricity - all of this powered by the sun.

News and recent developments

  • Dec 2015: Now available online: this year's Christmas newsletter including an interview with SEWA Associate Solange, a round of introductions with the trainees and of course the latest news from the projects in Burkina Faso here! (in German)
  • November 2007: Solar Energy for Western Africa trained 25 members of the RIMTEREB-SOM women's group in the use of the Papillon solar cooker.
