The Saracon solar cooker is a trough style solar cooker, which heats water to the boiling point to create steam. The steam is then directed into an insulated cooking box. The cooker is used to prepare meals for 15 - 30 residents of Auroville, an "experimental" township in the Viluppuram district, in Tamil Nadu, India, near Puducherry in South India.
