This Petal parabolic page describes a solar electricity converter being developed by Idealab. It is envisioned that this unit will be modular and sized for home electricity generation. The solar collector itself is made up of parabolically arranged "petals" which are independently microprocessor controlled. Solar energy is reflected by the "petals" to a heat engine located at the parabolic focus. The heat engine utilizes a Stirling cycle to produce electricity.
