In countries like India  people living in villages mostly use biomass as coking fuel  but there are no cheap and efficient wood burning stoves   as a result smoke and particulate matter generated by this stove become an environmental hazard and at the same time  it will have  bad effects on the  health of the cook  mostly the woman of the house  as the Smokey stoves are not efficient  consumes more fuel  draining on forest resources  and producing dirty gasses    these  stoves need constant blowing into fire by mouth  draining the energy of the cook   To solve all the above problems  following criteria was  kept in mind by me while designing the simple low cost wood burning stove  

  1. The stove should be efficient
  2. Should emit as less smoke as possible
  3. Fire should burn without much attending ie blowing by mouth
  4. It should be possible to build  with locally available materials
  5. It should be possible to build the stove by an ordinary man having very  simple skills    ie  by a house wife
  6. It should be cheap to build ( you can not ask one to invest  15 -20 $ to build a stove in a country  where the average income of biomass burning people  is less than 2$ )
  7. As for as possible  flame should be visible  from outside  as house wife  associates  good burning with  good flame
  8. It should be possible to burn most of the biomass fuels with the stove
  9. It should be quick  ie should boil water quickly
  10. Easy for the user to light and attend the fire    

Then I designed this  simple wood burning stove  meeting all the above criteria to a larger extent  The efficiency when use d with blackened pot is at least about20-25% much better than most of the wood burning stoves Instead of bricks even mud or un burnt bricks can be used  thus reducing  outside products to only  few ¼ inch rods. Except the top portion ie draft tube  all other dimensions  can be changed  or modified without much change in the efficiency / working  The stove boils 2.5 litrs of water in 10- 12 mins while the ambient temperature is 17 degree centigrade so it is comparable with gas stoves. As the inside of the  combustion chamber and draft tube are insulated all the heat produced by the fire is transferred to pot   more efficiency As fire burns on a rod grid  more air is drawn into fire  making a more complete  combustion  so less smoke Fire burns at a higher temperature so a clean fire more hot flue gasses transfer  heat to the pot efficiently   As the fire is hot less chances  of  fire getting extinguished  thus less attending The speed of flue gasses is more compared to other stoves  so the flow breaks a stagnant barrier making  hot gasses to touch the pot so increased efficiency Details of construction  The construction details are here  and you can see some more photos  when you go through all  these it should be possible for you to construct one by yourself
