Michael Nicholas is a postdoc at the University of California Davis, located of course, in Davis, California, USA. His main interest, as of 2014, is developing marketing strategies for electric vehicles and their related infrastructure.
He became interested in solar cooking and decided he could use his electrical background to develop a system for rotating a solar cooker throughout a given cooking session. The device uses temperature probes to maintain a preferred cooking temperature, and then will adjust the rotation for the appropriate orientation with the sun. He calls his system Solrmatic. Michael describes this approach as "Solar Cooking in the Digital Age: Opportunities for Cooking with and Testing Solar Ovens Using Microcontrollers".
