Hawaii Solar Ovens
Talk0this wiki
Hawaii Solar Ovens was created by solar cooking enthusiast, Gloria Pondela, living on the Big Island in Hilo, Hawaii, USA, to help raise local awareness that there is an alternate way of cooking. Using a solar oven will save on energy costs, has no impact on the environment or public health, especially when the alternative cooking method is open-flame cooking with smokey fuels.
She was inspired by reading about solar cooking potlucks happening in California, and wanted to plan similar events in Hawaii. She uses a Global Sun Oven herself, and her website has information on basic solar cooking options, recipes, and food safety while solar cooking. There will be upcoming information on solar cooking demonstrations to be held around Hawaii.
