If you guys agree, hopefully Beth knows how to do it. Tom Sponheim 19:01, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. As you may have noticed in Recent changes, I started to switch all the machinery over from 'currentevents' to 'calendar', but I realized that interfaces in other languages would subsequently have a blob of English there, and the translated equivalent of "Current events" seemed better than an English "Calendar of events", so in the end I just changed MediaWiki:Calendar-url and MediaWiki:Calendar to "Calendar of events". The former is the link and the latter is the label as specified in MediaWiki:Sidebar. Everything I know about this I learned from mw:Manual:Navigation bar. I moved Current events to Calendar of events and fixed the link on Main Page. I also edited MediaWiki:Monobook.js in an attempt to make the help msg (what you get when you mouse-over the link - what's that called?) more appropriate, but it hasn't changed. Maybe those msgs only get loaded at certain times. If anyone feels inspired to change the interface in other languages, I believe creating or editing files named MediaWiki:Currentevents/<language code>, e.g. MediaWiki:Currentevents/es and giving them the translated equivalent of "Calendar of events" will do the trick (but try one before doing a bunch :).
Thanks, Tom. This was fun.

- Thanks for taking care of it. To get a .js file to show up, you need to clear your browser cache and then go back to the site. I'm sure glad you two can do that hard stuff so I can concentrate on content. Tom Sponheim 01:27, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
