Hi Tom, really great work you're doing on this site. What about Image:Wiki.png? It's just a spontaneous draft by me; delete or overwrite it, if you dislike it :-) Greetings --rieke (Wikia Comunity Support) 17:32, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Rieke-Thanks so much for offering us the logo. It is not quite distinct enough for us to use. It is not apparent to a person unfamiliar with solar cookers what it is in the photo. When we get more of an idea of what we want in the way of a logo, can we contact you? Thanks again! Tom Sponheim 17:35, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Sure, just let me know if you've got a new idea, and/or if you need any help. And of course, you can easily change the logo by yourself. You just have to upload another PNG file over the exiting one under the name Image:Wiki.png (note the size, about 145×150px). In general, a wiki logo is better when it's not a photo but a kind of simple symbol, I know, but for the meantime this may fit well instead of the default Wikia logo, or not? ;-) To be clear: This is just a draft and is only meant as a little motivating help, not as a definite logo. So I would be more than happy - really - if you would substitute it with a more distinctive and own one :-) (it took me less than 2 minutes to create it, btw) --rieke 17:50, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Tom, the new yellow logo looks great! Remembers me a bit of some friendly South American symbol, but I don't know which one exactly :-) Could you also adapt the according image/license information on this page?

In addition I've made a tiny favicon from your version now. You might need to reload pages and/or clear your cache to see the change. Greetings --rieke 09:10, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I like the new logo, too. It reminds me a bit of the flags of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Walter Siegmund 16:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
The favicon looks blank to me. Is that some problem with my browser or is it really blank? I would love to have a custom favicon to replace the WikiCities one. --Beth Ogilvie 16:43, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
I like the graphic part of the logo a lot, but the text looks pixilated. Do we really need the text? --Beth Ogilvie 18:50, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
I want to keep the text since it appears on every page and tells the visitors what site the have landed on. It's pixilated, I think, because the graphic I created is not the exact size and it's being stretched. I'll need to ask about the correct size. Tom Sponheim 19:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
"The default logo on all pages can be changed for one specific to this Wikia. The image should be no more than 135 pixels wide and 155 pixels high." (Help:Starting this wiki) Walter Siegmund 02:45, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
favicon looks blank to me, too. I'm still getting the default logo in front of the URL. I don't see Tom's yellow logo anywhere. Walter Siegmund 04:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Yesterday I discovered that if I click on the blank image in favicon I can see the graphic, so apparently that's just a problem in the display of the favicon page. Also yesterday the favicon magically started appearing in my browser in the appropriate places. I didn't clear my browser cache as Rieke suggested, but probably I did reboot. I don't know if that explains it, but whatever the reason, it's a great little improvement. --Beth Ogilvie 16:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
If I click on the blank image in favicon I can see the graphic, too. I have rebooted and cleared my browser cache. I tried IE (Mac OS X, my normal browser is Safari, OS X). No luck. I tried IE, XP and Wiki.png appeared and looks very good as well as the favicon. On Safari, I tried the MonoBook (default) skin (my normal skin is Cologne Blue). Wiki.png appeared. The new favicon is still missing. One advantage of the Cologne Blue skin is that google ads are not displayed yet. Walter Siegmund 17:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Which version of Internet Exploder did you try? The Wikipedia Favicon article says "current use of Internet Explorer version 6 on Windows XP only uses the favicon for bookmarked pages." I'm using IE7, which I like a lot. Re: ads, at first I thought they'd be annoying and tacky, but if the page says "solar" enough times, the ads are right on- solar cookers, solar homes, solar panels, etc. It's really very cool. I have come to see it as a feature of the site. --Beth Ogilvie 16:25, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I think I have IE6 on the XP machine. I rarely use it, though. Thanks for the different perspective on the ads. Walter Siegmund 19:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
