The Muppet Wiki (often held up as an exemplary wikia) has a template and a category for active talk pages. The template goes on the article - and puts a notice box alerting readers to an active question on the talk page. The category page shows all the active talk pages. It seems to me this might be useful. There have been times I've wanted to suggest something about a page to its the primary author, but I wasn't sure a talk note would be seen, so I used some other contact medium. - Templates are used on Wikipedia in a somewhat similar manner, e.g., to notify editors of a proposal to merge two articles or that content is disputed. I can't think of any reason not to try the Muppet Wiki idea here.
- It takes a bit of experience before editors check the box, "watch this page", next to the edit summary box *and* view "My watchlist" (at the top of the page). Walter Siegmund 17:35, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
