Summary

This is a simple locking adjuster for my parabolic solar cooker. It is a rigid wire, a clamp made with a bolt and wingnut and two bands of steel. I will replace this wire with a thicker and more rigid wire. I you hinge the dish only at the front you increase the range of travel in the back and could lose the three-points of attachment you have as it is. Such as it is the load of the food and the parts of the dish are not far from balanced about the body of the cart. A front hinge configuration would work but may go off balance early and late in the day. The range of travel of the dish only needs to be around 90 degress. This design allows much more travel once the adjuster rod passes it's maximum distance. For side to side adjustment simply turn the cart. I used a bent band of metal with holes in it to attach the saucepan. A pin goes through the arm of the dish and the holes in the band of metal to set the bottom of the pan on the hottest and most focused depth of the reflections. This device produces very high temperatures and very bright light. Use eye protection. Keep children from staring at the light. Get solar cooking literally "off the ground" and put it on a cart. I made this from common items so that anyone can do it. Send these photos everywhere. By posting here I have made it so no one can patent it. Make one like it if you wish, go right ahead. Enjoy.
