Solarmate is an evacuated tube style solar cooker, designed to be compact and easily transportable, and it is also the name of the company that manufactures it in Argentina. The company began their research into evacuated tube solar cookers in 2006. As mentioned on their website in 2015; "Our mission is that the solar product meets consumer needs and not vice versa as it is today. To do this, over recent years we have worked hard on the development of several products, of which Solarmate is the most advanced. Similar to a conventional thermos size, it can heat the water inside with solar energy, and keeps it warm as a conventional boiler (thermos)."
Though the cooker should be able to easily reach 100 °C (212 °F) in the right conditions, and be able to cook a variety of foods, the more upright position of the cooker on its stand means it is better suited to heating water quickly for hot drinks or heating fairly liquid soups.
The company is also interested in developing other solar products, including a water purifier and other versions of high efficiency solar cookers.
