The Förderverein für Solarkocher (Association for the Promotion of Solar Cookers) was founded in 1998 by Eduard Probst, who had built and developed box-type solar cookers for the past 20 years.

With the help of this ingenious yet simple technology, the Association encourages the use of inexhaustible solar energy by deploying solar cookers in sun-rich but economically poor regions of the earth.

By this means the organisation makes a contribution towards improving the lives of the suffering population, towards preserving forests threatened by deforestation, and towards reducing CO₂ emissions.
