Online

  • Renewable Energy for the Developing World is a class offered online by Solar Energy International. The six week course will explore different applications for renewable energy technologies in developing countries. Participants will learn how to successfully accomplish sustainable development projects with renewable energy. Case studies will be presented on solar cooking, rural household electrification, appropriate building technologies, rural health care and micro-enterprises utilizing renewable energy.   • NEW: 13-14 April 2024 (Sorède, France): Solar cooking gathering at Sorède - An upcoming event for solar cooks in southern France, a few miles from the French and Spanish border, at the site of the historically famous Sorède solar furnace (Mas del Ca) built in 1900. On Saturday, there will be a workshop for solar cooks, led by Celestino Ruivo. Participants will be introduced to different types of solar cookers, and shown how to construct their own funnel cooker. The cost is EUR 15 , or EUR 25 if you want materials to be provided for you to make your own reflector. If the weather is good, there will be a solar cooked lunch. On Sunday, there will be two lectures about solar cooking, and a large display of solar cookers. See the posters for more information - Saturday, Sunday

  • NEW: Saturday, 27 April 2024 (Tucson, Arizona): 39th Annual Solar Potluck at Catalina State Park - Citizens for Solar will hold their annual solar potluck once again at Catalina State Park, 11570 N Oracle Rd. The event begins at noon and runs to sunset. Solar cooked food will be provided all day, along with solar displays and exhibitors. The solar potluck dinner at 5:00 pm – Come out and cook with us*, or bring a dish or beverage to share, as well as your own plate and utensils. Entrance into the solar potluck is free, but there is $7/car entrance fee to Catalina State Park. The potluck will be held at the Gila Monster group area, park in the Flycatcher area. *If you plan to cook with us, please let us know you're coming.
