Alliance 3000 is an NGO located in Alpes de Haute Provence, France, active mainly in Burkina Faso and elsewhere in Africa. Its goal is the sustainable development and empowerment of poor villages. It currently operates in five villages, representing a total population of about 5,000 people. 1,000 people have been directly affected by the actions of the association. Promoting solar cooking is one of areas of aid they offer. They also have been active in the design of the solar ovens they use in their projects.

Solar ovens allow people in poor villages to gradually replace the traditional wooden homes with a new way of cooking food. Being both ecological and sustainable, they will reduce the extensive use of wood and its particularly negative consequences on the environment of one of the poorest countries in the world.

The Alliance 3000 parabolic cooker

  • October 2010: Alliance 3000 has developed the Alliance 3000 Parabolic Cooker for use in a project in Burkina Faso. It consists of eight removable panels covered with reflective material that are attached to a trolly. The assembled unit is rotated with a long handle, making it easy to adjust the oven position to receive the most sunlight. A prototype was tested successfully this past summer. The Alliance 3000 cooker is designed for easily assembly and will be produced in Africa, made entirely from local materials.
