There are a few interesting projects going on. I am coordinating one ambitious project. This involves manufacturing, supply, transporting, installation, commissioning and test and trial for 300 community cookers (2.3 m dia. parabolic dish cookers designed by us) at tribal schools in Maharashtra. Such a huge task is to be completed in 40 days flat. The work order was placed by the state govt. on 20th Feb. 07 and everything is to be completed by 31st March 07. M/s Essential Equipments, one of our trainees is executing the project. I think this might be the single largest solar cooking project in the world, under one order. Total installation is for 1200 sqm aperture area. Do you know any such project being executed in the past?

You might not be aware that I am teaching in an engineering college here in Dhule. This is a college with private management. During one meeting with the college management recently I could convince the chairman to organise one international renewable energy festival. He promised us to put in some 30-40% of funds for such an event. My idea for the event are as under:

#To organise solar cooker design competition: We will keep all the technical details and many designs and design plans available on our website. Lot of good resource is already available on our website www.solarcooking.org We will add some more literature to this. We will ask all prospective participants (most of them are likely to be engineering students) to refer to this literature and design some solar cookers of their own. All these cookers will be displayed and will be tested during the conference event and prizes will be given for the good designs. Criteria for awards will be like efficiency, cost, convenience, capabilities etc. Prizes will be for the commercial and amature categories. Separate prizes for panel, oven and concentrating cookers.

#To have project presentation competition: Prospective participants will be encouraged to visit good sites like 'Tirupati', 'Shirdi', 'Smoke free village', etc. These participants are expected to prepare a story on the project including lot of photographs, videos, interviews etc. and present the same during the competition. I am expecting many engineering students getting involved in the competition and it will be good idea to get them to good renewable energy sites, study in details and then make presentation at the competition. Such exercise can generate interest in the minds of young generation about renewable energy.

#To conduct training program and expert lectures: As all participants coming for the event are expected to be budding engineers and science students we plan to conduct a training program on 'Entrepreneruship opportunities in Renewable Energy' for them. I am already conducting such program for some students with fair success. Lectures from experts like Deepak Gadhia and others will also be organised during the event.

In this regard I want to know from you:

#Share this idea with our members and get their suggestions on feasibility, any amendments they want to suggest, and other ideas they want to add, delete from the above scope?

#Suggestions for making such an event succesful. Suggestions from our members will be useful.

#How we can help to promote this event? What best can we do for such an event?
