Revision as of 19:15, 19 July 2011
20K Watts, an Artist Eco Alliance, has a mission to "Power comunities in impoverished areas using the sun, wind and batteries for storing and supplying electricity and enhancing the current quality of life and for the future. Currently there are thousands of communities in the rural areas of the world that are miles away from power lines. These communities do not have the luxury of what most of the world takes for granted everyday. 20K Watts is powering these communities through private donations. The villages and communities can use the power for lights, irrigation pumps, sterilization, computers, internet for medical clinics and schools and more.
Children breathing particulate laden Kerosene fumes inhale smoke that’s equivalent to two packs of cigarettes a day. The result is that two-thirds of these children develop lung cancer. Replacing Kerosene lanterns with solar lanterns can save millions of lives every year."

Founded by singer and songwriter, J.R. Richards, 20K Watts has focused their efforts in El Salvador, providing solar rechargeable lanterns, to replace the kerosene lanterns, in poor rural communities. Future projects hope to provide solar ovens for cooking and water pasteurization.
